Employees of Hallett Materials are focusing on safety — and the results are clear.

Three Hallett operations — the Ames plant, the North Des Moines plant, and Portable Wash Plant No. 3, which travels through western Iowa — have received five consecutive zero-citation inspections by the Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA) in the last five years. This accomplishment is even more impressive because multiple inspectors conducted the inspections.

The Lakeview Boyer pit in Wall Lake and the Hallett Stripping Crew #1 have both received four consecutive zero-citation inspections. Furthermore, in recent months, the entire Oldcastle Materials Midwest Group has ranked among the best in the nation in low number of MSHA citations despite a skyrocketing number of inspections.
