CORPORATE RESPONSIBILITY

Together, we are made up of industry leaders that are committed to safety and customer service. In addition, we take our role as a neighbor seriously.

SAFETY

Safe production is the most important aspect of our jobs and we are committed to working safely every day so that our employees and the general public can return safely to their families each night. Through education and encouragement, our employees constantly strive to improve our company wide incident record. Our safety training program proves successful as our safety record has received multiple achievement awards. All Midwest Region employees hold themselves responsible for their own safety, as well as the safety of others.

COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT

Minnesota Paving and Materials is an involved, engaged civic partner in the communities where we live and work to make a difference. We strive to safeguard the health, the safety, and the environmental well-being of the neighborhoods and communities. As a result, our employees have close personal ties with local schools, nonprofit organizations, and businesses.

ENVIRONMENTAL PRACTICES

As a building materials company, we have the privilege of using natural resources to provide beneficial products - like aggregate and asphalt- to the world. We conduct our business with a sense of appreciation and responsibility to renew, recycle, and reuse in order to operate more efficiently, and improve the environment wherever possible. We strive to be an industry leader in policies that enable us to provide quality products more efficiently while being aware of the impacts our operations have on the environment.

Making Beneficial Products for the World

The products that we make are not only necessary for roads, bridges, and other infrastructure, but they also have many applications for improving the environment such as hydro-electric dams, wind farms, soil stabilization, and water purification. We offer LEED certified asphalt for paving needs.

Recycling Leader

When it comes to recycling, we are leaders across Minnesota  in the use of recycled products to manufacture asphalt. As much as 30% of a new asphalt road can be made up of Recycled Asphalt Pavement (RAP). Most of our asphalt plants are able to utilize Recycled Asphalt Shingles (RAS), which allows the preservation of natural resources and the reuse of products that may otherwise become waste and fill up landfills.

Water Conservation

Combined, our aggregate sites recycle more than 5 billion gallons of water every year, ensuring continued resource preservation for the areas in which we operate. In areas we have an abundance of water, we seek partners in need of water for specific processes, so that water is not wasted and ground water is preserved.

Emission Reduction and Energy Efficiency

Most of our asphalt plants are Warm Mix Asphalt (WMA) capable, which means less fuel consumption, lower emissions, and reduced fumes for the plant. We work with energy providers that are committed to providing and producing more renewable energy. We have engaged in several energy savings initiatives throughout the company utilizing more energy-efficient LED lighting, converting aggregate locations to line power from generator usage, and incorporating variable frequency drives on electric motors for pumps and other plant equipment to reduce power demand and electrical usage whenever possible.
