In 2018, MidAmerican Energy announced the construction of two brand new wind farms located in Adair County; many resources were needed to construct the Orient Wind Farm project. A total of 150 turbines – with the possibility to add 100 additional turbines – was part of the company’s Wind XI project. Adding 550 megawatts of wind generation to its customers is enough energy to power more than 230,000 average Iowa homes. This is making their 100% renewable energy vision possible.

The Orient Wind Farm project started in 2018 and will be completed in 2019.

Hallett Materials produced and delivered the aggregate needed from two pits out of Central Iowa: Van Meter and Booneville. Having the capability to deliver resources from two locations allowed the Hallett Materials crew to cut delivery times and meet all customer deadlines.

A total of 96,000 tons of concrete sand and 78,000 tons of 1” gravel D57 were hauled to the City of Orient.
